Location
Situated 35km (21m) Northeast of Trinidad, and like its big
sister, Trinidad, was once part of the South American continent
millions of years ago. Geographic co-ordinates are Latitude
11o North, Longtitude 60o West
Climate and Geography
Tobago's climate is pleasant all year round. It is cooler
and less humid than Trinidad because of the more frequent
North-East winds. June - September are commonly the wettest
months. Tobagos topography is rugged, with low mountains
and elevations up to a maximum of 576m. Its area is 300
sq. km
Government and Population
Since 1889, Tobago and Trinidad have shared the same government.
In 1980, the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) was instituted
and was made responsible for administrative governance within
the island, with local governance remaining with the city
and county councils. The population is approximately 51,000,
90% of which are of african origin.
Airport
Crown Point International is the main airport in Tobago and
is located on the southwestern tip of the island. Renovated
in 1985, it serves as the destination for several international
